On the afternoon of June 27th, Professor Yang Feng, doctoral supervisor of School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiaotong University, was invited to give a lecture on "The Path of National Consciousness Practice in Foreign Language Education" in Room 310 of the International College. Professor Mo Aiping, leader of scientific research of the college, and some teachers from International College and School of Foreign Languages participated in the lecture which was presided over by Yang Yueqing, vice dean of the college.
The lecture started with a question raised by Professor Yang Feng: How does foreign language education strike a balance between internationalization and nationalization? Professor Yang then introduced the academic history of the construction of national consciousness discourse in foreign language education, analyzed the research objectives and contents of the discourse construction from theoretical and practical aspects, and emphasized the significance of such researches for enriching the development of disciplines on language policy planning, academic production and teaching practice in foreign languages as well as ideological and moral education.
In the final part of the lecture, there was a Q&A section on which Professor Yang interacted with and answered many questions raised by the teachers. Vice Dean Yang Yueqing summarized the lecture and shared her feelings with the audience.
The audience were passionate about this topic and listened carefully. They thought the lecture was of great help to improve their professionalism and scientific research ability.
