Australian Express About to Depart for a New Journey -- AU Program Exchange Meeting Successfully Held

As one of the excellent Sino-foreign cooperation programs of International College, the international joint training double degree program of our college and the University of Adelaide, a member of the Group of Eight Australia, has been widely recognized for a long time. For sophomores in the AU “2+2" Program, they will also be busy preparing materials for going abroad in the new semester and will look forward to starting a new journey in the second half of this year. To make sophomores in the AU Program know more about the follow-up study plan of this program, make individual planning, and dispel doubts, the International College held an AU Program Exchange Meeting on March 2nd. At the meeting, students spoke freely, and teachers answered questions patiently. Attendees included Long Haiying, Vice Dean of the International College of Guangzhou College of Commerce, Assistant Dean Li Cailing, Foreign Affairs Commissioner Li Yan, AU Program Director Wu Ang, Counselor Huang Wenyan, Cabby and Rico from IDP International Education Group and the sophomore students of AU Program.

At the meeting, Rico of IDP Education Group mainly introduced students' life in Adelaide including city environment and campus life, and made it clear to the students the deadline for submission of grades from March to June this year, emphasizing the qualifications of all grades for entering Adelaide, and pointing out the direction for the students. Students also asked questions based on their own situation, including IELTS scores submission, language class allocation and accommodation etc., and teachers answered the questions patiently. Vice Dean Long Haiying also listened to the students' voices and gave sincere suggestions at the meeting. Dean Long said that students should cherish the platform provided by the International College for further studies and make use of the AU program to achieve overtaking. When facing the epidemic, students should make psychological adjustment and turn the crisis into opportunity, and in the era of involution, get out of the comfort zone and find their own way to make breakthroughs.

With the pandemic normalization, the schools have always been escorting the students, and the University of Adelaide has chartered a plane to take international students to Australia. Through a video from a student in Australia, teachers and students also appreciated the life and study status in Australia. The following is a video of Li Jiaqi, from Class 2019 of International Business of International College, recording her experience in Australia.

Meanwhile, to facilitate the study of overseas students, the University of Adelaide has set up an Overseas Learning Centre (OLC) in Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, China (Dongcai), which provides an online and offline campus learning mode. Zheng, from Grade 2018 of the International College, also brought his personal experience at the Dongcai Learning Center in Dalian.

"I'm Zheng Haoran, a student from Grade 2018 in Adelaide 2+2 Program of Guangzhou College of Commerce. I'm now studying at OLC of Dalian Dongbei University of Finance and Economics. I didn't go to Australia at the moment because of the COVID pandemic, but I still gained a lot in Dongcai. At present, we take online classes. Studying and living in Dongcai has given me a different experience, and I have greatly improved in various aspects. After communicating with my classmates in Adelaide and the students in Dongcai, I found that they always think ahead of me and dare to take actions, and they have a strong ambition in learning and clear employment planning. Influenced by them, I found that I made great progress in socializing and planning my life, which also boosted my studies. I look forward to seeing more students of GCC study at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics!"

With the clear guidance from the teachers at the exchange meeting, students of AU Program surely have a deeper understanding and the feedback from the senior students also encourages the sophomores to get on the express to study in Adelaide. For most students, there are still language challenges on the way to study abroad. We hope that students can overcome difficulties, break through the obstacles they face, and successfully go overseas in the near future to explore more possibilities!
