This year, the competition instructor team of International College for the first time organized the students to participate in the National Academic English Vocabulary Competition. Since April, Chen Hui, the instructor, has been helping the contestants to study the rules and questions of the competition and getting them fully prepared for it. After three rounds of competition including preliminary, repechage and the final, the competition finally came to an end at the end of May. The participants said that taking part in this vocabulary competition provided them with an opportunity to practise their English skills, so that they could learn about the latest academic development of English vocabulary learning. They will take the success of this competition as an opportunity to continue on the road of English learning.

Since 2016, the National Academic English Vocabulary Competition has been initiated by English for Academic Purposes Association and has been successfully held for seven sections. The theme of this year is Academic English Service for Foreign Communication, which adds international communication factors in addition to synonyms and collocations. As a public welfare activity, the competition aims to lay the foundation for college students to engage in professional study and research in English and stimulate their enthusiasm for learning academic English through the study of academic English vocabulary. The competition is organized by Fudan New Academic, Fudan University Press, New Oriental Leci and Shanghai International Education and Training Division of New Oriental Education and Technology Group.
