On August 27th, the 14th MODEL APEC National Conference, which lasted for three days, officially came to an end in Suzhou, China. Outstanding representatives from nearly 40 universities at home and abroad, including China University of Political Science and Law, Central University of Finance and Economics, and Beijing Jiaotong University, attended the conference and discussed three major issues, namely interconnected growth, innovative growth and inclusive growth. Xiao Yunshu, from School of Accounting of Guangzhou College of Commerce, participated in the conference and won the title of National Top 100 at the final.
The conference consists of college trials, regional conferences and the national conference. In the early stage of the competition, GCC selected 6 students through on-campus trail to participate in the MODEL APEC South China Regional Conference. In the fierce competition, Zhou Yuhui from School of Foreign Languages, Xie Sicheng, Chen Weiyu, Li Jingyi and Wu Xiaojuan from International College, won the second and third prizes at the regional conference respectively. Xiao Yunshu from School of Accounting won the first prize at the regional conference and successfully advanced to the national conference.
At the national conference, Xiao Yunshu from GCC selected the topic of "innovative growth", simulating the representative from Canada, and proposed sustainable development of resources and innovative green energy. Xiao Yunshu's proposal was highly recognized by the contestants and the judges, and successfully listed as the top three proposals of the topic. This proposal will be much likely to be written into the youth representative policy document, and be submitted to the China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (PECC) as one of the achievements of China youth.
