In March 2002, the college signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, for the China-Australia International Accounting Undergraduate Program approved by the Ministry of Education. It is the first Sino-foreign cooperative education program in Guangdong Province.
In May 2003, the China-Australia International Accounting Program was formally established and welcomed more than 80 undergraduate students.
In September 2004, CPA Australia and ACCA granted the highest exam exemption for China-Australia International Accounting Program and provided excellent scholarships for students.
In December 2006, the first batch of students for the China-Australia International Accounting Program successfully completed the courses. Six of the students were rated as USQ outstanding graduates, and five students were awarded the Excellent Student Award by the CPA.
In 2008, the China-Australia International Accounting Program has trained three batches of students. With excellent education conditions and high-quality students, the program has been approved by the Ministry of Education to conduct independent enrollment.
In 2010, Guangzhou College of Commerce accelerated the process of establishing international education and carried out multiple undergraduate and master's continuous studying programs with well-known universities in the United States, UK, Australia, Japan and other countries.
In March 2011, Guangzhou College of Commerce established the International College to overall integrate China-Australia International Accounting Program, undergraduate and master's continuous studying programs and international exchange students.
In December 2012, Guangzhou College of Commerce developed a Sino-US Dual Degree Program in Logistics Management with Bellevue University in the United States approved by the Ministry of Education. GCC has become the first university in Guangdong Province to have two Sino-foreign cooperative education programs.
In September 2013, Guangzhou College of Commerce and Bellevue University recruited the first batch of 130 undergraduates for Sino-US Double Degree. In the same year, there were about 550 students in the two Sino-foreign cooperative education programs.
In 2015, Guangzhou College of Commerce China-US Logistics Management Double Degree Program passed the certification of the American Logistics and Transportation Association.
In 2016, the International College established the Institute of Foreign Languages, Cultures and Teaching, and conducted special studies on foreign literature, linguistics, translation, teaching methods and other disciplines.
In 2017, Guangzhou College of Commerce and the University of Nebraska Omaha signed an agreement for the "2+2" Sino-US Double Degree Joint Program and a ceremony was held, to further expand the scope of cooperation and enhance the level of cooperation.
In 2018, Guangzhou College of Commerce and the University of Adelaide signed an agreement for the "2+2" Sino-Australian Double Degree Joint Program, to further expand the scale of international cooperation and improve the quality of international education.
In December 2019, Guangzhou College of Commerce held the 4th International Cultural Festival, and more than 10 overseas cooperative colleges in the United States, UK, Australia, Malaysia, Spain participated in the event.
In 2020, International Exchange and Cooperation Office and Service Center for Overseas Study were set up to carry out all-round international exchanges and cooperation, promote the international education development of the college and enhance the international influence.
In 2021, GCC was elected as the vice-chairman unit of the first Council of the Chinese-foreign Cooperative Education Research Branch of Guangdong Higher Education Association, which fully affirmed the effectiveness of running international education in the college.
In April 2022, the college cooperated with Southern New Hampshire University in the United States to hold an undergraduate education program in Internet Finance approved by the Ministry of Education, becoming the first university in Guangdong Province to have three Sino-foreign cooperative education programs.
